“don’t go up in the hay mow” 3 x 3 inches, acrylic on photopaper.

Letter to Earl continues:

He told Jose he was not drunk and handed her the medicine that the doctor give him. Ralph and your dad went over to help him get down feed as Jose did not want him to go up in the hay mow.

I am learning from this letter about things I have no idea about, for instance do you know what a hay mow is? I didn’t, so I looked it up. (It’s just the hayloft of the barn).

At this point in the letter the writer spelled the name Jose, which at first I thought was a man, but then knew it was the wife, when later she writes Josie.

Anyway you read it, this image really isn’t Josie at all because this series is a fictionalized picture assemblage of painted photos designated with names to make a storybook, eventually.

Up next: they all got sick.
