friday: last night i collected a few pages from an old child’s primer from 1938. i looked at them over and over for ideas to come to me about how i could make them tell some kind of story. it came to me today to take away their eyes and mouths. i collaged them with texts from the same book which i redacted all the names of the people from. i actually scraped away the eyes and mouths with an exacto knife and colored them in with colored pencils, but after i photographed them i did not like the feel, because the printed pieces had a rosette pattern that was lost in the pencil. so i used photoshop to clone the parts of the faces and eliminated the pencil altogether.
thinking of our current political climate and the lies were fed as children, and now, i created this collection.
