in 1920 white women got the right to vote. it would take the civil rights movement to give black women this right. one hundred years later, we are still waiting for constitutional equality for all people. the 28th amendment, the equal rights amendment (ERA) was ratified this year. it will take two years before it is enforced to give states the opportunity to fix the laws on the books. there is also controversy surrounding the archivist putting the amendment in the constitution. arizona was not one of the states to ratify the ERA. we are still working on this.
