a fairly new gallery/artist space has opened in flat rock, studio 116. they are having a call for art on coasters. i bought 10 blank coasters there and took them home to create 6 myself and whatever others jake wants to use. the show is in april.
i did two series of three. the first is a collection of animals, printed on a 100 yr. old deed from upstate NY. collaged with red tissue paper and my “signature” father’s stamps.
the second is a series of anatomy: eye, heart and skull, printed on the personal pages of an old woman’s address book. so many people had died that she had more cross offs than not. i ripped up some pages from experiment in autobiography by h.g. wells. and added black tissue paper.
