And whatever happened to house dresses? I remember my Mom wearing these, specifically for wearing around the house. I guess they were comfortable in the day when women didn't wear jeans/shorts. Or when it mattered what women wore at all times. My mother certainly wouldn't have been caught dead wearing a house dress anywhere but inside the house or in the back yard hanging up clothes.
And the article…was life ever simple enough to agonize over whether it's cost effective to sew one's own house dress or to just buy it in the store.
